WIW Legal and Educational Fund (LEF), in collaboration with WIW, the National Press Club, American University School of Communications and other area organizations, plans to present a series of educational public forums that will explore the current status of rights of writers in the rapidly changing and challenging 21st Century.

Each forum will explore a high priority topic or issue in the context of the contemporary field of communications. Forums will be sited at high visibility locations to facilitate attendance and coverage by educational press and media.

A panel of prominent speakers, with particular expertise and experience on each issue, will present facts and viewpoints in response to the most pertinent aspects of each topic. Each forum will be led by a moderator with widely recognized expertise on the issue being presented.

The panel presentation will be followed by questions posed directly from participants in the audience. The forums will be open to the public with targeted outreach to area writers, journalists, and students at area institutions of higher education with schools of communication and/or journalism.

Media coverage through CSPAN and public radio and television networks will be sought to maximize access and impact.

LEF will explore opportunities to develop forum-related products that will be available to the public to extend over time the access to the knowledge gained through these educational presentations.
